The roots of YASONTEC trace back to 2005, when Dhaka Sontek Community Kallyan Samity began as a small neighborhood welfare initiative. With a relatively small local population and limited resources, its work centered on informal assistance, mutual support, and modest community activities. The initiative developed gradually alongside the surrounding community until 2020.
In 2020, disagreements within the earlier association led to the dissolution of its committee and the closure of its previous office arrangements. Community representatives subsequently formed a new organizing committee and decided to continue and expand community welfare activities under a new name, Youth Advancement Sontek Society (YASONTEC), with a broader focus on youth development, volunteer engagement, and support for residents across a wider area.
In November 2020, the new initiative obtained a local community-activity permission letter from the Ward 62 Councillor’s Office of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), concerning community welfare and voluntary activities subject to applicable requirements. The organizing committee continued developing its community programs and administrative structure.
In 2025, the committee decided to pursue formal RJSC registration to strengthen the society’s legal and organizational framework and support its ability to seek eligible government and other society-focused funding opportunities, subject to the rules of each funding program. The organization began the registration process in July 2025 and established its website domain in June 2025.
According to the organization’s account, the process involved name-clearance complications, legal assistance, further administrative review, multiple visits by government representatives to the organization’s office, and examination of its memorandum and supporting documents. Following completion of the applicable procedures, Youth Advancement Sontek Society received its official RJSC society registration in October 2026 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration No. S-15465/2026).
